QotD: It's A Wild, Wild Life
When was the last time you interacted with any sort of wildlife?

Yesterday when Mike opened the back door to take out the trash, this little bun was under our pear tree.
Mike decided not to bother him (her?) and called me to grab my camera. He (we will call it he) is not as large as this cropped photo suggests, he's about a year old.
Rabbits such as this one are not uncommon in our city. There was a huge old abandoned steel mill recently torn down, it was on 52 acres, about three blocks from our house. The area will be where new homes and some strip malls will be built. Mike thinks the steel mill is where the wild rabbits are coming from.
We have a large yard (double lot) and since we no longer have a dog, we've had three or four rabbits in our yard in spring and summer. I don't know if the rabbits live in our yard. They often just hop around and then leave.
This bun didn't seem startled to see Mike open the back door. After an hour or so, it hopped to the back of our yard where my lilac bush is, ate some clover and wild violets, then it hopped away. Maybe he'll come back and visit again.
