I'm a long-time writer and have been published in a few magazines (many years ago). My efforts to get back into freelancing have, unfortunately, been unsuccessful. But, I've moved on from that. I'm very happily married and my sons are adults now. I'm deaf and have been all my life. I'm a saved Christian (2003).

My blog's description line is 'I live a contented life'. I put that up because that is a main truth in my life. My life now is content. It wasn't always. My childhood wasn't the happiest due to severe alcoholism in my family. My first marriage was full of abuse, both physical and emotional. I literally walked away from that marriage--and left my sons behind--in order to save my sanity. When I walked away from that marriage I was on the verge of suicide.

I believe it was because of God's grace that my second husband, Mike came into my life. I strongly believe Mike was put in my life so that I didn't live my life alone and also so that my sons would have a stable male influence in their lives, which they badly needed when I divorced their dad.

I believe Mike is the other half of 'me'. We do almost everything together. Because of Mike, I now have happiness, balance, serenity, and all the emotional support I could ever want. My sons were very young when I left them with my ex, but I kept in contact. I gained custody of my sons when they were in their teens and we are very close.

As for my interests:

I'm an avid cross stitcher. I also make quilts, and crochet occasionally. I'm a book freak. In my youth, I wanted to be a librarian--a dream never realized.

One of my favorite pastimes is lounging in my local Barnes & Noble cafe with my husband, a good book, and an iced tea. Or, if I go to Jo-Ann Fabrics I can easily spend a couple of hours browsing through the fabrics and crafts.

Because I'm deaf, the Internet is my connection with friends, family, and the world. The friends I've made via the Internet are important to me, as is my blog here on Vox. I hope you enjoy reading my blog.
